Ashlen's American Windsor Rocking Chairs are crafted in-house for you using the traditional three-wood construction developed in the 18th century. White pine seats are deeply carved and shaped from a 2 inch thick panel, allowing them to remove a full inch of material from the center. When compared, most companies use a thinner board when producing their Windsor chair seats. Although customizing extra thickness involves a little more work on Ashlen's part, they have learned over the last 25 years that extra steps and attention to detail insures you and your family a more comfortable, slide free seating experience. Ashlen's legs and stretchers are turned from hard maple which offers strength and support. Oak, known for its flexibility, is used in the spindles and bendings. Each Ashlen Windsor is hand-wedged.
